The Lore Dogs are a new collaboration of American singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist D.B. Rielly (2019 Kerrville New Folk winner) and world percussionist Rohin Khemani (Red Baraat, Surface to Air Trio). Dark tales of love and perseverance are illuminated with everyman ease in songs that pair traditional American sounds with colors from afar. Indian, Latin American and African percussion partnered with guitars, banjo and accordion tell stories that resonate beyond our borders.

The Lore Dogs debut EP presents a melancholy new take on Hank Williams' Jambalaya (On the Bayou) alongside two original works. Devil Showed Up weaves a story of tenacity and perseverance in the face of obstacles. Got a Mind tells the story of a father's desire for vengeance.

Percussionist/producer, Rohin Khemani: "After many years touring the world in bands, we each wanted the simplicity of a duo. Being able to hit the road and take the show anywhere. The space, the freedom, to see where the music would take us and leaving room to have a friend or two join us once in a while."

Guests on the recording include Australian trumpet player, Nadje Noordhuis, who performs a haunting solo on Devil Showed Up, and North Carolina guitarist, Justin Poindexter, whose sensibility for roots music helps to plant these songs in both America and abroad.
